Chilwell School Winner 2016

Chilwell School has been doing the Brilliant Book Awards since its inception, 10 years ago.

Two classes of Year 7 pupils are set the challenge of reading all 6 BBA books and every pupil writes reviews on each book during the 3 months that the BBA runs.  We find that, during the BBA, pupils become more enthusiastic about reading books they would not normally attempt to read and they all get better at review writing, which is a useful skill for English.

Last year we came second in the BBA Book Quiz, went to see the winning author, Kim Slater and voted Nowhere Emporium as our winning book, with Kim coming a VERY close second (she missed out by 1 vote).

Our Year 7’s are eagerly anticipating starting the BBA 2017 and cannot wait for the Shortlist to be announced.
